Public authorities, including town and parish councils, now have a legal duty to conserve and enhance biodiversity<\/a> in England. To help you engage with your local council on this important issue, we\u2019ve created a series of resources designed to start the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have created a collection of short documents showcasing examples of biodiversity actions already happening across Teignbridge. Each document breaks down the action into key points: a quick summary, how it was done, who was involved, associated costs, benefits for nature and wildlife and then actions for the council to think about taking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage you to select the actions that seem relevant and achievable in your parish. Use them to inspire and engage your councillors to take similar steps! You can print out the actions and place them in a folder or on pop up a display at a parish council meeting to spark further interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve also made a short PowerPoint presentation, perfect for introducing the topic at a parish council meeting. The slides provide enough detail to get discussions going and highlight the supporting documents. You\u2019ll find speaker notes with extra information you can use during your presentation, and you\u2019re welcome to download and customise the slides to suit your parish\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
